{Family Movie Night} The Incredibles

The Incredibles! 

I LOVE this movie and haven't seen it in forever so I think I was the most excited one for this movie night! The kids had never seen it and I wasn't sure how'd it go. 

Paxton had a repeat of the week before and refused to sit down and watch. He maybe made it through 15 minutes worth? 

Alexis watched most, but just like last week got distracted by her brother and then didn't want to watch anymore. So Cory and I sit again watching the end of The Incredibles while our kids play. 

It really is a good one. 

Alexis was not a fan of the "super hero energy drink" a.k.a Root Beer Float. It was her first time having  pop and she was quite disgusted by it.

{Family Movie Night} CARS

Is it sad to say that we've never seen the movie Cars? I felt like I HAD seen it since I've been to about a hundred little boys birthdays that were all themed around this movie, maybe I'm exaggerating... but still.

Because it's a newer one I really thought the kids would love it. I even thought Paxton would be mesmerized by all the Cars since he has a slight obsession with them recently. It didn't go as planned... go figure!

Dinner was delicious and those stoplight treats were to die for! The best part of the night.

Paxton only got through the first 10 minutes of the movie and decided he'd rather run around, play, scream as loud as he could... pretty much anything but watch a movie. *sigh*

Alexis sat and watched most of it but got distracted by her brother and then ran off to play too. So Cory and I are sitting there watching a kid movie without our kids. Yea.

Oh well... we'll keep doing it!

{Family Movie Night} Beauty and the Beast

This week we went with Beauty and the Beast. We've seen it about a million times. Alexis got it for her 2nd birthday and we watched it over and over and over again. She absolutely loves it. She took a break with it and became obsessed with Tangled, so it was nice to come back to an old favorite of hers.

On the Menu:

Lumiere's la pasta

(Ravioli Lasagna recipe I have that the kids love! Any pasta recipe would work though)

(bought a frozen bag at the store)

(I bought a bottle of Lipton Ice Tea- my husband loves it!)

Strawberry Rose Shortcake

(I found this recipe. You can too if you google it. Super easy and SUPER yummy! Perfect dessert. The kids loved that it looked like a flower!)

Bronco Game!

We have Bronco season tickets and go to every single game.

But this game was different.

Cory got called a week before and he was asked if he wanted to participate in the "Roll to the Goal" contest, which the contestants get inside a "hamster ball" and race on the field right before the game starts. He said Hell yea! ha! We thought it was all fun and games until they emailed him and explained that if he won that he would win a 50 dollar Supercuts gift card and they would upgrade our tickets to Club Level! I was jumping up and down telling him that he HAD to win! They also invited us to the pre-game show and we got to watch the players warm up. I couldn't believe how close we were to so many players, it really was such a cool experience that I'll never forget. Here are some pictures of the pre-game..........

Then it was time for Cory to get ready for the contest....

I seriously could not contain my laughter. Too funny! I was so nervous for him, but so excited! Here's the last picture i took which was right before the race started. I turned my camera to video so I could tape the whole thing.

HE WON!! He did it in 28 seconds! 

Afterwards we met JOHN ELWAY in the elevator!

Such a great day! One we'll remember forever.

Now if he has one of the top 3 fastest times, he'll get to come back on the last game and race again. If he wins that one than the Broncos will fly us out to an away game all expenses paid. Please keep your fingers crossed that he has one of the fastest times! 

{Movie Night} The Lion King

I'm addicted to Pinterest. Actually, addicted would be an understatement. I wonder how I survived before I discovered it almost 2 years ago! I pinned something and later went back and clicked on the link. It led me to a wonderful mommy blog about her family who did family movie night every night for a few weeks leading up to their vacation in Disney World. I LOVED reading about it! So I decided to do a spin off of that and we decided to have family movie night once a week- forever! Hopefully we'll be starting a new family tradition that will last throughout the years. That's the goal anyway. 

To make it even more fun I decided I would make a fun dinner to go along with whatever movie we're watching. I printed out a cute menu and posted it on our fridge and Alexis was ecstatic! I love being creative and I hope this will be fun. If you're a mom who has stumbled upon this blog and would like to  copy, please do! I'll post what I do for each movie. =)

For our first night we went with The Lion King. Cory and I had seen the movie in years and honestly I forgot what it was even about. I think we were just as excited as the kids. I wasn't sure if it would hold Alexis' attention or not since it's kind of older and the message is geared towards a little older kids. But she surprised us and sat and watched the whole thing! She was laughing at Timone and dancing along to the music. It even held Paxton's attention for a good 30 minutes! Wahoo! It was a success and I'm excited for the next one.

Bug Sludge Smoothie

(vanilla yogurt, strawberries, banana, blueberries mixed in a blender - I loved how the blueberries looked like little bugs stuck in the smoothie, Alexis got a kick out of it!)

Mother-Son Time

We have this local playgroup called Imagination Station and they put on field trips every other week. I used to take Alexis to practically every single one that they would put on. She always enjoyed them. We haven't been to one in a really long time and now that Pax is 16 months I feel like I should start getting him involved in playgroups and getting him to socialize a bit more. Imagination Station had a field trip to a farm to do some vegetable picking. It was while Alexis would be in school so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have some mother-son time, which we hardly ever get. We got to the farm and paid our $8 (you can pick as much as you want for that- great deal!) and walked around trying to find our group. While we were waiting to see if we recognized anyone we found this tractor. Pax was immediately drawn to it and loved climbing all over it.

We got to go on a hay ride to take us out to where all the vegetables are. He loved climbing on the hay.

We first picked some corn, but it was so muddy out that he could hardly walk. We only picked a few and got back on the hay ride. Next was the tomatoes! The tomatoes were the perfect size for his small little hands and he really enjoyed picking them. So I let him pick as many as he wanted. He also enjoyed putting them in the bag, who knew that would be such a highlight?

After the tomato picking it had already been a WHOLE hour! Where did the time go? We needed to get back to pick Alexis up from school and to get Pax down for his nap. So we headed out with all those tomatoes! I really enjoyed having some 1-on-1 time with him, I can't believe how much easier life is with just 1 child. What did I ever complain about when we only had 1? haha! I'm hoping to start putting together some more mother-son dates while Alexis is in school. Such a sweet boy I have. I love him.

Sweet & Sassy

I heard about this Sweet & Sassy place from another mommy blogger. She lives in Texas so I looked it up to see if we have one in Colorado. WE DO! Only an hour drive away too, wahoo!

Sweet & Sassy is a salon and spa for little girls. Alexis is obsessed with getting her nails painted and loves all things glitter! I thought it would be fun to have a girls day with her. I asked her if she wanted to invite a friend to go along with her. She said she wanted Shai to come. Shannon (her mama) loved the idea and jumped on board! Love them!

Cory watched Q (Shai's baby brother- only a few months older than Pax) and Paxton, they had a guys day. What a great husband he is. =)

Here's the girls before we went inside. They were so excited.

First, they had pedicures. The girls could pick out any color they wanted. They both picked pink. Didn't surprise us at all. They got their feet massaged with glitter lotion that smelled like cupcakes. They both said it tickled. They also got a flower painted on their big toe. So cute!

They then got manicures. Shai picked a pink color and Alexis picked red! They massaged their arms with the same glitter lotion and got flowers painted on their nails too.

Then came the hair up-do! Alexis has been begging me to color her hair pink! They had these little pink hair extensions that were attached to bobby-pins. Perfect! I let her do that. Perfect for a 3 year old.

The final look - topped with tons and tons of glitter spray of course!

After their make-overs they got to walk the runway! They put on lights and music and the girls got to have their moment to shine. (Since we were the only ones there they had 30 minutes to shine!) This was by far their favorite part of the whole experience. Shannon and I couldn't stop laughing! They were a lot of fun.

We took our little divas out to eat at McCabes afterwards. There's nothing like some chicken fingers and mac n cheese after a spa day! =)

I really enjoyed having this time with Alexis, Shannon and Shai. A girls day is exactly what the doctor ordered! =)
