We went to Hammond's Candy Factory with my parents. They do free tours of their candy factory. My dad had heard about it and wanted to see what it was all about. It was busy. Super busy. Annoyingly busy! That surprised me. We first did some shopping for some candy. They do make some pretty cool candy canes and candy cane trees. It was so packed that we could hardly walk around to look at it all though. Alexis spotted some candy corn that she wanted. $13 for a bag! WHAT? I told her No way. There was tears. We made it over to the chocolate section, I knew I'd be in trouble! We got in line to order some, after 2 people cut in front of us, and 20 MINUTES later we finally got service. We ate our chocolate. It was ok. The free tour could have been cool, but it was over-crowded that I could barely hear what the tour guide was saying. We did get to see how they hand-make all of their candies, that was really interesting. That's about all we got to see. They handed out free candy canes at the end. They were all broken into tiny little pieces. Big bummer! If you're thinking about going to Hammond's Candy Factory I suggest NOT going. =(
We went to The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. The atmosphere is awesome! There is a trolly train car in the middle of the restaurant that you can actually sit and eat dinner on! Cool! We weren't lucky enough to get one of those seats though. The food was horrible. It's definitely one of those places you go to for the scenery, not the food.
Zoo Lights! We have gone to Zoo Lights ever since Alexis was a baby. We've never missed a year. I think it gets better and better each year. We love it. I think the kids loved riding the Carousel the best though, go figure. We got the kids some blinky glow-in-the-dark sword-things. That was pretty exciting! We got to see Elephants and Giraffes, that made Alexis happy.
It was a fun day with my family.
I love days like these.
